I was again surprised to hearing my mother talk like this, but I have to admit I really enjoyed the extra attention she was giving me, and even the hint of naughtiness was adding a special little thrill to everything. (A term I didn’t understand, but one which led to quite an enjoyable discussion with my aunt as she explained it to me later!!)
I had an older sister who I missed very much as she was away at University, and a dad who spent long periods of the year away from home as a merchant shipping captain after he and mum had become separated.
